Project Situation

It is a national project to archive more than 2TB documents based on MARC21 Standard. They need to do search on Meta Data based on a custom Persian thesaurus. They done some efforts to develop a solution based on .NET Framework, more than 1 million USD spend unsuccessfully. It's about performance and scalability issues.

Our Solutions

We offered them to use Persian Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 as a free platform. We have planned to performance and scalability and designing a medium server farms infrastructure.
We worked so hard to support MARC XML export in SharePoint's Lists and Document Libraries. It was very difficult to do so, especially when we do NOT know anything about Marc Standard. It took 4 months to complete and now we are glad to declare that you are able to export data from a list or document library as MARC21 HTML, MARC XML and Dublin Core Standard.
We are also storing a glossary of more than 100000 technical terms in some relational lists. It will use to keywords from this thesaurus to put as Meta Data.

We are planned to use this custom Persian thesaurus to make sense on search results also.
